In the first quarter of 2023, the 19 trainers Transaid trained as part of its professional driver training (PDT) project in Ghana trained a total of 278 drivers, including 255 HGV drivers.

One of the key objectives of this programme is to develop an enhanced driver training curriculum specific to HGV drivers, and push for its adoption at a national level by the Ghanaian government – to ensure consistency of training standards across the country with the aim of saving lives.
