[June 26 – 30, 2023, Accra]

The Education Team of CILT International comprising Zoe Roberts – International Education Services and Development Manager and Ruth Francis – International Education Manager (Africa, Middle East and South Asia) embarked on a 5-day working visit to Ghana.  The visit was to afford the team an opportunity to have first-hand knowledge and understanding of the running of CILT International Professional Programmes at the Accredited Training Providers (Universities, Technical Universities and University Colleges) in Ghana.

A team from CILT Ghana, led by its President Engr Mark Amoamah FCILT, accompanied the international team to visit Nine (9) Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) and had direct interactions with the Management of the Institutions, Heads of Department where the programmes are being run and the Coordinators of the programmes on the challenges faced by the ATPs and explored opportunities for improvement and collaboration. The visit also aimed to strengthen CILT’s commitment to improving the quality of its programmes globally. The ATPs visited were Accra Technical University, Data Link Institute of Business and Technology, Ghana Communication Technology University, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Pentecost University, Regional Maritime University, Kumasi Technical University and Zenith University College.

 The international team also had the opportunity to meet Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Coordinator at CILT Ghana Secretariat to discuss related issues concerning the running of the programmes at TTU.

The international team commended Ghana for the level of dedication and passion exhibited by both CILT Ghana, the schools’ management and the coordinators. They were satisfied with the training providers in Ghana and praised them for their commitment to delivering high-quality professional programmes that are aligned with international standards.

CILT Ghana took the opportunity to discuss future collaborations and partnerships with the training providers in Ghana. Areas of interest bordered on the possibility of market expansion, diversification of providers and the range of professional programmes offered in the country, including the introduction of the CILT Masters programme.

The CILT Ghana branch expressed their gratitude to the CILT International Education Team for taking the time to visit and engage with the local education providers. They believe that this visit will further strengthen the working relationship between CILT Ghana and international while also enhancing the quality of education and professional development opportunities for professionals in the supply chain, logistics and transportation sector.

Other members of the CILT Ghana Team were Nlaliban Wujangi FCILT – Executive Secretary, Andrews Osei Mensah CMILT – Vice President (Rail) and Member of the Education Business Team, Patrick Andoh FCILT – Vice President (Logistics), Samuel Asare Boateng FCILT – Kumasi Section Chairman), Frank Osei CMILT – Administrative Officer and Patience Abladey-Dortey CMILT – Education Officer.

Overall, this visit marked a significant milestone for CILT Ghana. It highlighted the commitment of CILT Ghana to providing world-class professional programmes to its members and the wider community.
