About CILT Ghana

HISTORY

CILT GHANA represents and is a branch of CILT International in Ghana. It was established and registered in 1965 as The Chartered Institute of Transport (CIT). The name CIT in Ghana was changed to CILT in January 2002 following the international merger between CIT and The Institute of Logistics (IL).

GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

CILT Ghana is governed by a 11-member Governing Council (GC) which is the highest decision-making body. The GC national positions are:

  1. President
  2. Vice Presidents for Education &Professional Dev’t, Rail, Air, Maritime, Road and Logistics
  3. Executive Secretary
  4. Financial Secretary
  5. Immediate Past President
  6. Executive Member
  7. Four Section Chairmen

CILT Ghana is organized into currently four local sections located in Accra, Tema, Takoradi and Kumasi.
The local sections are managed by Executive Committees.

CILT GHANA OBJECTIVES

  • Promote the study of the science and art of logistics and transport
  • Establish and maintain the professional standing of its members
  • Coordinate with other professional institutions and the educational sector to raise training and educational standards in keeping with our code of professional standards
  • Promote research towards the development and improvement of logistics and transport
  • Provide professional advice to the industry, government and the community
  • Promote safety and security in all modes of transport
